Bill Empson
Managing Director/Projects Manager

Bill has 30+ years experience in diesel engineering, generator sales, hire and installation.  He is an approved Independent Qualified Person (IQP) able to inspect and maintain SS14/1 Emergency power systems (standby diesel generators).  He oversees all project works managing a team of fitter welders and generator control technicians.  Bill has built a loyal customer base over the years having been involved in many projects large and small.

Russell Gibbs
Service Manager

Russell Gibbs has 30+ years experience as a diesel mechanic and generator technician.  Having numerous service contracts to manage from the tip of the south island to central north island, Russell and his service team are dedicated to delivering routine maintenance, service and repair to emergency and standby generators.  Russell’s core focus is on customer service and satisfaction.

Marty Coutts
Hire Manager

Marty Coutts as the generator hire manager covers the entire greater Wellington region, Manawatu region, central North Island and as far south as Christchurch.  He has a background in diesel automotive and heavy transport and before coming to us successfully ran a painting and decorating business in Wellington.  Marty is intent on growing the hire generator business with a strong focus on customer solutions and repeat business.

Our Points of Difference

​Diesel Agencies is Wellington, N.Z. based and owned.  It was established in 1986 and was at that time more focused on Marine Propulsion.  Since new ownership in 1998, the focus has been on Diesel Power Generation and in 2015 Generator Central, a subsidiary to Diesel Agencies, was opened specialising in the sale of generators up to 3000kva and hire of generators 5kva to 1400kva. 

Diesel Agencies has invested in plant, machinery, and vehicles required to carry out all works.  We are Woodward generator controller approved Accredited Systems Integrators (ASI) agents.

Having a long history in this line of business Diesel Agencies is well established and known in the industry.

Diesel Agencies undertakes all aspects of sales, installation and maintenance servicing of diesel generator power plant.  We are structured to manage large projects and meet deadlines. 

Minimal response time to support call outs is achieved because we have the staff numbers and experience available.  The day to day operation is not reliant on just one person – if there is an urgent need for our attendance, there is always more than one person available to take the call and others available to attend.

Generator hire, sales, design build, installation and generator after sales support & maintenance is our core business!​
